The GamerHash Miner App was wound down on 31 January 2026 — closing the chapter that started the company in 2017.
What it was
Launched in November 2017, the Miner App was the original product. It made GPU mining accessible to anyone with a gaming PC — no command line, no manual algorithm switching, no pool config. You installed it, hit start, and the app picked the most profitable algorithm for your hardware, swapping mined altcoins to Bitcoin for daily payouts.
It ran on Windows, Linux, and macOS, and shipped with built-in support for the major mining algorithms of its era — BTC, Ethereum, Ravencoin, Monero, FLUX, ERG, ETC, and more — across GMiner, Nanominer, XMRig, lolMiner, and a custom GamerHash proxy that handled pool failover and profitability switching.
What it meant
Tens of thousands of gamers earned with it. Most mined Ethereum, Ravencoin, or Monero on their gaming GPUs and got paid in Bitcoin — automatically, every day, without ever touching a wallet config or pool URL. For a lot of people, this was the first time crypto felt useful: idle hardware paying for itself.
That community is the reason GamerHash exists. The platform we run today — AI compute, GHX, the Store, deAPI — was built on top of what the mining community made possible.
Why we wound it down
The economics of consumer GPU mining changed. Ethereum left Proof-of-Work in 2022, and the post-Merge mining landscape never returned to a scale that justified maintaining a polished, multi-platform mining client. At the same time, demand for distributed AI inference exploded. Every GPU on the network is now more valuable running AI workloads than mining altcoins — for the user, and for the network.
Rather than keep the Miner App on life support, we focused entirely on the GamerHash AI App. Same idea — share GPU power, get paid — pointed at AI compute instead of Proof-of-Work.
To everyone who mined with us
Thank you. For the GPUs you ran 24/7. For the Bitcoin payouts you withdrew or held. For the bug reports, the Discord questions, the screenshots of overclocked rigs.
The Miner App is over. The mission isn’t. If you still have a capable GPU, GamerHash AI keeps the same loop running — only this time, your hardware runs image generation, language models, and the deAPI public compute layer instead of hashing.
See you in the new chapter.
